Heat pumps

Our air source heat pumps provide a more sustainable, responsible home heating solution. With monobloc and split heat pumps available, you can select the option that best suits your home and needs.

At Ideal Heating, we work hard to provide a straightforward transition to renewable heating for end users, installers, contractors, social housing and new build developers. All of our heat pumps have an impressively high coefficient of performance (COP), often over 300% efficient, meaning a high ratio of heat produced to energy consumed.

Choose a heat pump for more sustainable home heating today.

Heating for Social Housing

Heat your social housing with Ideal's boilers or heat pumps. Our central heating solutions work with various social housing types, including heating for flats, terraced housing and more.

Whether you want smart new central heating for new build social housing or a central heating system that will work effectively for an older property, our heat pumps and boilers keep your tenants warm in an efficient and cost-effective way. Plus, we offer heating controls so that you or your tenants can easily regulate the temperature of social housing residences.

Heating for Social Housing FAQs

  • Which heating solutions are best for social housing?

Heating for social housing should be energy-efficient and cost-effective. Heat pumps, which offer energy efficiency of around 400%, are an excellent option for this.

If opting for a boiler, consider the size of the property and the number of intended occupants. A combi boiler is excellent for small properties as it’s compact in a single unit to save space. However, for larger properties with a high number of occupants, a system boiler is a strong choice as it can store large amounts of hot water in a separate cylinder.

If you are using an older property that was built with a heat-only boiler in mind, a new heat-only boiler installation may be the most cost-effective choice.

To help you make your decision, see our guide comparing heat pumps and gas boilers and our guide to different boiler types.

  • Is social housing eligible for the Boiler Upgrade Scheme?

While social housing isn’t eligible for the Boiler Upgrade Scheme, those on housing benefits are eligible for the Warm Homes Social Housing Fund for energy-efficient heating. Social housing properties with low energy rating (D-G) can also be fitted with heat pumps via the Energy Company Obligation.

  • Can you install a heat pump in a flat?

Air source heat pumps can absolutely be installed in a flat, provided there is at least one square metre of outdoor space for the pump's outside component.

Heat pumps can also emit some noise, which can be a concern for flat block dwelling. However, Quiet Mark Approved heat pumps are available, such as our Logic Air
