Become heat pump qualified and save £500 on our best-in-class training

Blog04 July 2023

The Heat Training Grant scheme is now live … and you can save £500 on our range of heat pump training courses.

The initiative was announced by Government earlier this year and is designed to provide 10,000 installers over the next two years with the skills and expertise needed to supply heat pumps to customers.

Grants are available to both self-employed installers and those working for a business with 250 employees or less.

We’re delighted to announce we’ve been named as a training provider for the Government’s Heat Training Grant.

It means installers who choose to complete one of our best-in-class heat pump training courses can benefit from £500 towards the cost.

Ideal Heating’s Expert Academy is experienced in delivering BPEC’s Award in Air Source Heat Pump Systems, which is included within the Heat Training Grant Scheme.

Andrew Johnson, our Training Director, said: “The launch of the Heat Training Grant scheme is great news for installers and for the heating industry as a whole.

“We’re pleased to have been named as an accredited training provider for the scheme, so installers who choose us for their training can benefit from financial support to help cover the cost of the course.

“We know the cost of training is an additional burden for many installers, particularly those who are self-employed.

“With the ambitious targets set by the Government for heat pump installations, we welcome this scheme which will incentivise installers to upskill and become the low carbon engineers of the future.

“Alongside the Air Source Heat Pump Systems qualification, we have also taken the opportunity to provide additional training and qualifications free of charge as part of our offer.

“We will provide an additional one day of training that focusses on heat loss calculations and system pipe sizing. These are fundamental to successful heat pump installations, so we feel it’s right to spend more time on this as part of this training.

“Installers can choose to come back and complete a full low temperature system design qualification with us in future, if they wish.

“We are also offering a free Water Regulations qualification that is a pre-requisite requirement for the ASHP qualification. We feel these three elements provide installers with great value and a great starting point for the opportunity to begin to enter the heat pump installation market.”

Installers can benefit from discounts on their training at our National Training and Technology Centre in East Yorkshire, as well as our other training centres across the UK.
